# Categories

### Can I set up the category tree in the EE first, then import entries using category IDs instead of names?

Yes. If you manually create your full category structure in the CMS first, you can include the existing category IDs in your spreadsheet.

### Will DataGrab assign products to existing categories if I provide the category IDs?

Yes. If the category ID exists in the CMS, DataGrab will assign the entry to that category.

### What happens if a category in the spreadsheet does not match an existing category ID?

DataGrab will attempt to create a new category if the ID or name doesn’t match any existing category in the CMS.
